Do you accept insurance?

As a licensed mental health professional, Dr. Schroder's services are insurance eligible for insurance carriers in Washington State. Valley Therapy & Consulting is not paneled with any insurance company. Our clients attend therapy on an out-of-network basis or pay for sessions out of pocket. If you would like to use your out-of-network benefits, please contact your insurance company and ask what the out-of-network reimbursement would be for outpatient in-person or online psychotherapy. The specific amount of this reimbursement depends on your plan. For your convenience, we can check your insurance benefit and deductible during our phone consultation. Please have your insurance card ready during the call.

Why are you out-of-network?

As an out-of-network provider, I offer therapy services independent of insurance networks. This decision allows me to prioritize your care without the constraints imposed by insurance companies. Here's why: Greater Control and Flexibility: You have more control over the focus and frequency of your sessions. Unlike in-network care where insurance companies may limit the duration of therapy based on their review of your file, I can work with you to determine the most effective treatment plan tailored to your needs. Whether you're working through stressors, seeking personal growth, or maintaining progress, we can decide together on the frequency and duration of sessions. Expanded Choice: By choosing an out-of-network provider, you have access to a wider pool of therapists. This increases your chances of finding the right fit for your needs and preferences. In-network therapists may have limited availability, making it challenging to find someone who aligns with your goals and schedule. Consistency in Care: Your therapy is not subject to changes in insurance plans or employment status. If your insurance changes or you switch jobs, you won't have to disrupt the therapeutic relationship you've established. Continuity of care is crucial for achieving long-term progress and maintaining momentum in therapy. Timely Reimbursement: Insurance claims can be delayed or denied, causing uncertainty and disruption in care. As an out-of-network provider, you can avoid potential delays in reimbursement and have more transparency in the billing process. This ensures that your focus remains on your therapeutic journey rather than administrative issues. By choosing me as your out-of-network therapist, you're investing in personalized, high-quality care that prioritizes your unique needs and goals.

How do I know if I have out-of-network coverage?

We recommend that you contact your insurance company directly and ask them the following questions: •Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient psychotherapy? •What is my deductible? •How much of my deductible have I already met? •What is the allowable amount for psychotherapy? •What is the percentage of reimbursement for psychotherapy? With this information, you will know whether you have met your deductible for the year and when your benefits will kick in. You will also know how much your insurance company’s “allowable amount” for therapy will be and what percentage of that amount they will cover. For example, if your insurance’s allowable amount is $300 a session and they cover 60% of the allowable amount, then you are responsible for $120 per session out of pocket after your deductible is met. We would be happy to check your insurance benefits and deductible for you during the phone consultation. Please have your insurance card ready during the scheduled call. For your convenience, you can also check your benefits below by entering your insurance information in

How do I get reimbursed by insurance?

Following each session, your card on file will be charged. At the close of each month, you'll automatically receive a superbill within your secure client portal for submission to your insurance company. Subsequently, you'll receive reimbursement from your insurance either by mail or as a deduction from your deductible.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a document that contains the information your insurance company needs in order to reimburse you directly. The information includes the name of your therapist, our office address, national provider ID number (NPI), business tax ID number, your diagnosis, dates of service, procedure codes, and the amount you paid.

I am not sure of my insurance coverage. Can I schedule first then check with my insurance?

We would be happy to check your insurance benefits and deductible during the phone consultation. Please have your insurance card ready during the scheduled call. We may be able to see whether you have out-of-network benefits, how much of your deductible you have met so far, and the amount that you will be reimbursed for psychotherapy once your deductible has been met. If you are unsure of your insurance coverage, we recommend that you contact your insurance first and then schedule the first session with your therapist, unless you are open to paying for therapy out of pocket.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes! Online therapy offers numerous benefits, including increased accessibility and convenience, as individuals can receive support from the comfort of their own homes. It also eliminates geographical barriers, allowing clients to connect with therapists who best suit their needs regardless of location. Additionally, online therapy can be more flexible in scheduling, accommodating busy lifestyles and providing a sense of anonymity that some clients find empowering.

Valley Therapy has partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy. Use this tool below to see if you qualify for reimbursement for services.
